Do you recognize this bird?

If you do, you probably found some of my real-world art projects! Digital media is well and good, but in a world increasingly dominated by algorithms and advertisement, I'm trying to add a little bit of magic back to the mix.

So, how did you come across this bird?

Somebody drew my portrait

I found this weird piece of paper...

...scanned the QR code on the back, and now I'm here.

Great! This is a collection of hidden notes that I created, and distributed around the Towson and Baltimore areas. Each note has a unique message, be it a movie recommendation, passages from my favorite books, or a silly doodle.

This project is inspired by The Feve, a local bar and restaurant in Oberlin, OH. At The Feve, it's common for patrons to leave notes in the gaps between bricks. They range in content from sweet encouragement to pure stupidity, but I've always felt lucky whenever I happen upon them. (My favorite was a drawing of a Korok from Legend of Zelda, with the caption “nyeh heh heh, you found me!”)

In the spirit of the project, I would love it if you created your own note, and tucked it somewhere for someone else to find. Or don't, I can't make you do anything.

If you want to tell me that you found a note, I made a handy-dandy form just for that! This is it!

I own a rubber stamp with this bird on it

Regardless of how you found it, I'm glad you're here! If you're interested in learning more about me, my work, and what the hell Sparrowfish is, then check out my home page.
