Nice to Meet You!

About Me

Hi, I'm Wren! I am a current first-year student at Oberlin College studying writing and studio art. I am also a visual artist, comic creator, author, and a hobbyist web designer. I spend my free time wandering around Oberlin, OH and annoying my friends by insisting we stop to pet every dog we see. When I'm not at school, I am based in Baltimore, MD, a city which has my heart completely. I enjoy exploring the Inner Harbor, and I can frequently be found wandering the halls of one of Baltimore's many museums.

What I'm All About

As a creative, I find the most joy in discovering the interesting angles of otherwise mundane things. Some of my favorite subjects are everyday people, common household items, and scrappy cities with their supposed golden years behind them (hence my residences in Baltimore and near Cleveland.)

As an artist, some of my favorite works are cluttered spaces, filled by a pile of discarded plastic cups or a wilting houseplant. Social media demands that artists lean into hyper-appealing stylized realism. I aim to capture the quieter, messier moments of one’s life. I strongly believe in the importance of creativity, regardless of skill set or prior experience. In a world where so much is automated and optimized, I aim to emphasize the joy found within the creative process, rather than the results it produces. This isn’t always easy. Afterall, the act of painting a picture in and of itself can’t pay a utility bill. However, I strongly believe that a maker’s dedication to their craft often shines through in the quality of their work.
